The Dakota Ojibway Police Service (DOPS) is a stand-alone First Nation Police Service. The Police Service seeks an appropriate candidate to fill the position of Inspector.
This is a Police Service position employed on a contract basis reporting to and working in conjunction with the Chief of Police as part of a management team. The successful candidate shall possess all or a portion of the following attributes:
- Status as a sworn peace officer with a recognized Police agency;
- A minimum of 15 years policing experience;
- A minimum of 5 years experience in a supervision or a middle management role;
- Knowledge of Dakota and Ojibway cultural traditions an asset;
- Proven ability to conduct investigations with related course work;
- Experience in organizational development as related to best practices in policing an asset;
- Must meet minimum requirements of the position of Inspector as prescribed by the Dakota Ojibway Police Service (see www.dops.org).

ADDITIONAL MINIMUM STANDARDS:
- Must be psychologically fit as determined by a recognized psychologist.
- Must be of good character as determined through security checks and background investigation.
- Physically capable of performing the required duties of the position based upon medical examination by a physician.
- Grade 12 education or equivalent GED.
The Dakota Ojibway Police Service is seeking applicants for the position of Detachment Clerk/Typist in our Sand Bay Detachment - Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation, MB.

DETACHMENT CLERK/TYPIST (CT-2)
- Responsible to the Detachment Commander.
- Responsible for ensuring receptionist needs of the Sandy Bay Detachment are met effectively and efficiently.
- Responsible to receive, refer and screen telephone calls/walk-ins and ensure they are relayed to appropriate personnel at the first opportunity in a professional and courteous manner. Where an emergency arises, ensure appropriate personnel are advised immediately.
- Responsible to receive telephone calls and dispatch mobile police units with police code communication.
- Responsible to receive all incoming mail, date stamp, record and distribute to appropriate personnel.
- Responsible for any typing in accordance with required standards
- Responsible to maintain a filing system on all incoming and outgoing correspondence related to area of work.
- Responsible to take and transcribe dictation as required in all matters and other documents as required within the Police Service.
- Responsible to maintain the strictest of confidentiality on all matters relating to the Police Service.
- Responsible to maintain an appointment calendar and daily itinerary for the Detachment Commander and all members of the Detachment.
- Any other related duties as may be assigned.
Individuals will be subject to a Criminal Records Check and Child Abuse Registry Check, as will spouses/partners and any other adult residing in the same residence as part of the application process.
Salary will be in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement with Manitoba First Nations Police Association.
